Cultural Development Objectives

I am super excited about going to teach in Australia. I cannot wait to experience a new culture and learn more about both myself and the greater world around me. Some things I hope to learn about include:

1. To better understand the history of Australia being a refuge to criminals and how this led to a strong sense of community and camaraderie still present is modern day Australia. How is this developed and represented in the politics, economy and educational system?

2. To help gain a better world view of how other countries, specifically Australia, views the U.S.A. This may be particularly interesting seeing how Australia is more a bystander in the war on terrorism.

3. To understand the educational system in Australia and compare to that in the U.S.A. Also compare and contrast to see the pros and cons of each system.

4. Become familiar with Australia Pop Culture and see how it differs from U.S.A. and maybe understand why.

5. Share in the traditions of the universal Catholic faith in a different country to see how traditions are held through faith across the world, but to also see how some differences may occur just due to local society.
